Since its establishment in 1946, and with roots stretching back to the Civil War, the nonprofit 501(c)6 organization has been at the forefront of fostering innovation and technological progression for security and emergency readiness. The AFCEA Small Business Committee

The AFCEA Small Business Committee is a proactive assembly of volunteers from the association’s diverse industry and government sectors, committed to bolstering member engagement by fostering alliances across various domains. Vision IT plays a significant role, with representation on the Small Business Committee Board as well as active involvement in multiple subcommittees. These roles are pivotal in promoting outreach to and developing strategies for the small business sector within AFCEA. They also enhance networking opportunities, facilitating collaborations between businesses of all sizes. Membership on the committee is predicated on affiliation with an AFCEA corporate member, individual membership for government representatives, and dedication to a three-year active tenure. Vision IT’s participation exemplifies this commitment, as its members not only support but also lead at AFCEA Small Business events, serving as vocal brand ambassadors and thought leaders in various speaking engagements and focused discussions.

AFCEA Women

As a sub program to AFCEA IDEA, AFCEA Women is dedicated to promoting the participation of women in STEM fields through its Women in AFCEA initiatives and regular panel discussions. These resources are designed to foster career advancement for women through leadership training, educational workshops, specialized events, and networking opportunities. Participation in AFCEA’s activities equips women with essential skills, mentorship, and valuable connections within cyber, defense, intelligence, and homeland security sectors. Past recipients of recognition, like Victoria Washington, former CEO/President of Vision IT and Woman Appreciation Award Winner, exemplify the success and empowerment these initiatives cultivate. Our aim is to establish a mentorship program to support and serve Women in AFCEA, defined as a nurturing alliance that focuses on personal and professional growth, leveraging strengths, and potential through empathy, active listening, and transparent leadership.

The Alamo Chapter of AFCEA

AFCEA is the global organization dedicated to the ethical exchange of information within IT, communications, and electronics for defense, homeland security, intelligence, and related government sectors. The Alamo Chapter of AFCEA aligns with this mission by promoting professional development and fostering relationships with government and industry partners in cyber defense, communications, and intelligence. The chapter organizes monthly and annual events, offers scholarships and grants for STEM education from K-12 to graduate levels, and supports military veterans and their families. Alamo has over 1,200 members in San Antonio, a hub of military expertise, Alamo AFCEA is committed to innovation, collaboration, and professional growth, encouraging dialogue among experts, and investing in the future through education.

Women of Alamo AFCEA

Vision IT is a staunch supporter of the Alamo AFCEA Chapter’s Women in AFCEA “Bridging the Gap” initiative, actively sponsoring multiple events throughout the year. This dedication underscores their commitment to advancing the participation and career progression of women in STEM fields within the defense, intelligence, and homeland security sectors. Recognizing the importance of leadership development, educational workshops, and networking opportunities, Vision IT’s involvement is instrumental in providing women with the resources and connections needed for success. March of Dimes

Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. March of Dimes is working to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. From polio to prematurity the March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten our children and finding ways to prevent them.

SAMMinistries

SAMMinistries in San Antonio addresses homelessness through a holistic approach, fostering self-sufficiency and dignity among families in critical need. With a significant portion of the city’s population vulnerable due to lack of savings, the risk of homelessness looms large. As an inclusive interfaith ministry, SAMMinistries provides more than just shelter and housing; it also delivers supportive services and meaningful volunteer opportunities. The Vision IT team not only regularly dedicates time to volunteer at SAMMinistries but also provides financial support, contributing to the safety and shelter of 350 families nightly. The collaboration with SAMMinistries is an integral part of Vision IT’s commitment to social responsibility, making a tangible difference in the community with every hour and dollar contributed.

The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce

The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, with over 1,750 members, stands as the region’s most prominent pro-business entity since 1894. As the leading business voice, the Chamber unites members to spearhead key initiatives that foster the city’s prosperity. It facilitates member engagement in addressing local challenges and enhances business growth through networking and events. The Chamber holds a vision where business serves as a catalyst for good, advocating for economic prosperity and an improved quality of life, underpinned by a belief in free enterprise, equal opportunities for personal growth, and the necessity of a vibrant business environment for community well-being. It champions dynamic leadership and responsible government to nurture a favorable business climate and quality education, ensuring the region’s cultural, economic, and civic health. Southern Careers Institute (SCI)

Since its foundation in 1960, Southern Careers Institute (SCI) has grown to include eight Texas campuses and an online platform, offering a diverse range of programs in medical, pharmacy, business, technology, and skilled trades. Central to SCI’s mission of bridging the talent skills gap, the institute has formed a strategic partnership with Vision IT, which plays a crucial role in advising on the IT and Cybersecurity curriculum and relevant certifications. This collaboration ensures that the programs remain industry-relevant and that students acquire the skills demanded by today’s job market. Additionally, Vision IT contributes to student success through assistance in placement, resume building, and leveraging their expansive network for career opportunities. This joint effort not only prepares students for new careers but also underscores SCI’s commitment to enhancing community well-being by making graduates highly marketable and ready for the workforce.

Veterans of Foreign Wars

Chartered in 1958, VFW Post 9972 has become Arizona’s premier post, epitomizing the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ commitment to camaraderie and service. This post has been shaped by notable veterans like James R. “BOB” Currieo and has the distinction of producing three National Commanders-in-Chief, underscoring its exceptional leadership. Vision IT proudly supports its employees’ volunteerism with the VFW, recognizing the value of service to fellow veterans. Beyond encouraging volunteer efforts, Vision IT partners with VFW Post 9972 in financial contributions, reinforcing our shared dedication to the welfare of veterans and their families. This collaboration highlights a joint commitment to the VFW’s mission, honoring those who have served our nation, and embodying the principle of “Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes®”. EAST Initiative

EAST is education accelerated by service and technology. They inspire change and transform schools and communities by empowering people with technology, by encouraging critical thinking and creative problem-solving, and by engaging them in positive, real-world experiences. They advocate lifelong learning and community service. Through EAST, participants become positive agents of change to improve the world around them.
